Netto goes to the ranch escorted by João Gutierrez and says he came to look for Bento Gonçalves so that they could negotiate peace with Caxias. Antônia introduces Matias to João Gutierrez and takes him to her house to see Mariana. The empire hands its peace proposal to Bento Gonçalves.
Perpétua finds out she’s pregnant again. Rosário decides to return to the convent to see if she can meet again with Estevão. Bento Gonçalves challenges Onofre to a duel and wounds him. Onofre leave a good dowry for Joana before he dies. Rosário tells Madre Cecilia that she returned to the convent to find Estevão. Manuela cries when she learns that Garibaldi and Anita got married. Joaquim sees her crying and breaks off his engagement.Joaquim hears Joana’s declaration but says he can’t stay with her. Rosário finds Estevão. Maria tries to talk to Matias but can’t. Rosa tells Ana Joaquina that she and Joana are going to open a sewing shop in Pelotas.
Bento Gonçalves arrives at the ranch affirming that he’s never returning to government. Bento Manuel sees Bento Gonçalves being welcomed by Caetana and gets frustrated. Zé Pedra returns from the convent with Rosário’s body and explains that no one knows how she died. The Farroupilhas are attacked in a treacherous manner by the Imperials.
Marcelino, Terêncio, and Teixeira Nunes die. The peace treaty is signed. Perpétua gives birth to a girl, whom she names Tereza. Joaquim goes to meet Joana. João Gutierrez returns to Mariana. Antônia tells them she’s going to put the ranch in their names. Bento Gonçalves and his family return home.
