Pop Culture Galore: 2017 Gallery Review

Pop culture music is diversified but we all have to admit that Pop leads the pack any day. The year 2017 saw us enjoy a lot of new bangers and even new infusions of Latino love into the genre.

Brand new albums came into the scene this year, some topping charts like reputation with “Look What You Made Me Do” from Taylor SwiftShe currently still in a feud with Katy Perry, who gifted the world with “Witness”. From that album we have heard massive hits such as Swish Swish, Bon Appétit, Hey Hey Hey and Chained To The Rhythm.

American girl band Fifth Harmony launched their self titled album in August. The album received critical acclaim with titles such as Down where they featured Gucci Mane, the Hip Hop inspired Angel, He Like That and Deliver which have broken records. The girls launched this album in a bid to show the world that they are stronger together right after the departure of fellow band member Camila Cabello, whose music career also skyrocketed right after the world premiere of her single Crying In The Club, which received massive acclaim. Her versatility has also been evident in the Hip Hop hit, OMG featuring Quavo, and Havana featuring Young Thug. Camila’s self titled album will be coming in 2018 with 10 tracks sure to wow the pop culture world, some such as Never Be The Same and Real Friends are already doing just that.
From the British Isles, the Europeans are also infusing pop love into people’s hearts. British girl band Little Mix were at it with their Glory Days album giving us hits such as the energetic Power which broke music charts to the brim and No More Sad Songs featuring Machine Gun Kelly following the same route. They also partnered up with Latino boy band CNCO for the remix of their.

Lorde also dropped a brand new album Melodrama from whence hits like Green Light and Perfect Places have emerged. Demi Lovato‘s new RNB infusion has seen Tell Me You Love Me become an album worth talking about with hits such as Sorry Not Sorry and the track from where the album’s name is derived leading the package.
Bad girl P!nk was also prepared to blow minds of her loyal fans when she launched Beautiful Trauma and succeeded in doing so with What About Us causing a frenzy amongst listeners.
Kendrick Lamar‘s DNA album has wowed some but has also been a disappointment to others such as myself and I am not sure how effective Loyalty, featuring Rihanna, was at driving that spazz that it should have, but tracks like Humble did me in, so I would say we are yet to see the last of this super talented man.
Latino pop star, Luis Fonsi had quite the year when his record breaking Despacito received 3 billion viewers in less than 7 months and invoking Justin Bieber’s vocals into the song’s remix only served to popularise the song further. He also received acclaim for Échame La Culpa with Demi Lovato helping pull the track’s fame higher.

Enrique Iglesias was also part of UK’s top Music charts for his very enigmatic title, Súbeme La Radio.
DJ Khaled must be planning some big ass party to celebrate the year seeing as his Wild Thoughts track featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, topped dozens of charts worldwide and I am not surprised since this track did me in from the first time I heard it and this only proves what of a success this year has been. I’m The One also lead download rates worldwide in pop culture music. I will not speak much on the other tracks in his Grateful album seeing as I am yet to sample the entire entre but let’s just hope the year really was loaded with hits from him.

J Balvin was very instrumental and ensuring a musically successful year with the unveiling of his hit single, Mi Gente, featuring Willy William. This track literally had systems banging due to its apparent energy and crazy beats. I sure hope this Latino mastermind will have a prosperous year.
Before I pen off, I would like to highlight Cardi B‘s vitality into the music scene. Her debut track, Bodak Yellow had many questioning its authenticity and her evident aping of Nicki Minaj‘s style. However, her winning of BET’s Hip Hop Artist of the year only saw the sealing of her stay into the music scene verified and she has proven herself in Migos’ MotorSport featuring her and Nicki Minaj.
With so much to say, I can only end by saying 2017 has been wild with Pop Culture music tracks. The world was wowed with many eminent titles and it is our hope that the oncoming year will be full of many more musical delights from our favorite pop culture artists.
