As at 1:00 o’clock at dawn Esmeralda and Pablo hasn’t gotten home and this makes Silencioso and all of his household very worried only to be told by mariano that, Esmeralda and Pablo got an accident on their way home and have been taken to the hospital. All this while Lorenza and Agustín hasn’t gotten any message about the accident, so the next day, Lorenza tells Agustín to prepare so they can go for their son’s wedding but Agustín resists and asks Lorenza why on earth she feels very happy going to that wedding when she knows that their son is getting married to their enemy’s daughter.
Lorenza answers him that no matter the kind of person her son is getting married to, he still needs her support as mother therefore is he is not going, that is his own cup of tea but she will go no matter what. Everybody gets dressed up and they all move to the church waiting for the couples to arrive but they only receive the information about the sudden accident and everyone becomes worried. All of a sudden Mrs. Rita tells Chacharas and the others that that means the card never lied as everyone thought. Mariano looks at helpless Esmeralda lying on her sick bed and he begins to have some flashbacks saying to himself that.
he would give anything to have been the first person to set his eyes on her at the slope side because ever since they were kids, he always wishes that Esmeralda would have been his but unfortunately it isn’t so rather his brother but he is still happy for her because Pablo is her happiness. He shares tears for Esmeralda and prays for her that, she comes out of coma.
Lorenza visits Pablo at the hospital and though he is also helpless, she stands beside him and share tears telling Pablo that she thought she could fight against fate but she has now realized that, all what she was doing was uncalled for and therefore asks him to forgive her for everything. The doctor declares Esmeralda’s condition as very critical and it will take only God’s intervention to see her through.
